Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21 1982. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV show Lost. Following the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington Ohio in order to settle with her family in Los Angeles. They were struggling to get by when she got her first part in the acting world as Rachel's Room's lead character. Following her win of an Young Artist Award in 2002 for her portrayal of Murder in Greenwich of a 15-year aged Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace went on to be awarded. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost where she was the main character for the initial two seasons winning a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace was a co-star alongside Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, decided to make the move to film. She appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. The role was reprised as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the main character Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played Shannon again in Lost's finale episode, as well as two additional episodes. She also was a guest in the sixth series of Californication. The character she plays is Faith who's the star-gazer and a socialite. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal Family she is the daughter and elder sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career when she was a teenager, playing small appearances in his films. She also appeared together with her brother in popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). In 2002, she starred as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Also, she appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received nominations for the Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the love story Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. In the wake of several successful commercial films including World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother who has a child earned her nomination in the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Then she continued to play in comedies along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (12). The other roles she played were an agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013), a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) as well as a singer in Frank (2014) as well as The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
